Müller extends stay at Bayern until 2015

06.08.2010

Bayern youth product Thomas Müller has been rewarded for his outstanding first season in the senior squad with a new and improved contract. On Friday, the 20-year-old added another two years to his existing deal, originally set to expire in 2013, thereby extending his stay at the club until 30 June 2015.

“Bayern Munich football club recognises outstanding performance. Thomas Müller’s performances last season were exceptional,” club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented. “We’re delighted he sees his long-term future at Bayern.”

Rave reviews

“A dream has come true for me, and not just in the course of last season,” Müller responded, “I come from Bavaria, and FC Bayern is my club. I’m delighted that I’ll continue to wear a Bayern shirt for the next five years.”

In his first full season with the seniors, “Müller was a delight to watch for us and football fans everywhere,” Rummenigge continued. “He won honours in the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup, and was a member of the team which reached the Champions League final. He finished top scorer at the World Cup in South Africa, and was named Best Young Player.” Müller will now seek to maintain and build on those achievements in the new season.
