Miroslav Klose is set to leave Bayern, after the club and the player failed to reach agreement on the terms of a new deal. As a result, the 32-year-old’s contract will not be extended beyond its original expiry date of 30 June 2011. The Germany international made a total of 98 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern between 2007 and 2011, scoring 24 goals.
“Unfortunately, our talks with Miroslav Klose have not produced a positive result. We’d have been happy for him to extend his stay, but when it came to the length of a new contract, we were unable to agree on a mutually acceptable period,” commented club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “FC Bayern Munich wishes Miroslav Klose and his family all the best for the future, and thanks him for our partnership over the last four years.”
Miroslav Klose commented: “I’ve had four good and successful years here in Munich, and I’d like to thank FC Bayern very much indeed for that. The opportunity to play for this club was always very special.”
