The semi-final pairings in the UEFA Champions League have now been finalised. Bayern and Barcelona booked their places in the last four on Tuesday evening, and were followed the following night by Real Madrid and Chelsea. As expected, Real comfortably won their quarter-final second leg at home to minnows APOEL Nicosia, the Spaniards running out 5–2 winners in an entertaining game at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu and booking a date with Bayern by an 8–2 aggregate scoreline.
Meanwhile, in the parallel fixture in West London, Chelsea survived a scare or two before defeating ten-man Benfica 2–1 to complete a 3–1 aggregate victory.
In the semi-finals, Bayern now host Spain's most successful club on Tuesday 17 April, before travelling to the Spanish capital for the return on Wednesday 25 April. In the second semi-final, Chelsea entertain Barcelona at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 18 April, with the second meeting at Camp Nou on Tuesday 24 April. The final takes place at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Saturday 19 May.
