FC Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg have agreed terms for the transfer of 26-year-old striker Mario Mandzukic. The Croatia international is expected in Munich in the course of the next few days for the obligatory medical, before signing a four-year deal binding him to Germany’s biggest club until 30 June 2016.
“We’re pleased we’ve been able to bring in Mario Mandzukic, one of the best forwards in the Bundesliga, who also demonstrated his special goalscoring ability at EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. He’ll make our squad even stronger,“ commented FCB director of sport Christian Nerlinger. Mandzukic will be Bayern’s sixth confirmed new signing for the 2012/13 campaign.
The Croat joined Wolfsburg from Dinamo Zagreb in 2010, and has scored 20 goals in 56 Bundesliga appearances to date. He added three goals in three games for his country at the European championship.
Mandzukic joins Bayern for an undisclosed fee.
