His full name is Dante Bonfirm Costa Santos, although he is only ever known by the short version, the simple ‘Dante’. But how would the Brazilian actually like to be addressed? The summer signing revealed the answer in Wednesday's FCB.tv video chat: “Dante or Mr Dante, it doesn't bother me. The fans can use both!" The likeable Brazilian spent a half-hour between training sessions taking fans’ questions. We present a selection of the defender’s answers.
Dante on…
…his first few weeks at FCB, and the Allianz Arena:
“My time here has been outstanding so far. It all works so well together, the club, the stadium, the fans, my new team-mates. I have a super, positive feeling. I really like Munich, and we've had fantastic weather recently as well. I've already said to my wife: look, we're in the right city! And the Allianz Arena is incredible. On the way home from the Dortmund game in the Supercup, I took loads of photos because the city was looking so wonderful."
…the imminent Oktoberfest in Munich:
“We know about the Oktoberfest in Brazil, and people are already asking me about it. I actually already own Lederhosen. I'm excited and looking forward to it."
…the club’s previous Brazilian players:
“I was a Lucio fan, because he had a great spell here. He's a strong, aggressive defender. But my favourite player is Zé Roberto, he's unbelievable and he’ll always be in my thoughts."
…the battle for places in the team:
“I'm not even thinking about it. Every player has to do his best, and then the coach decides. Obviously, everyone wants to play, but if someone else is chosen instead, we have to accept it. Our goal is to win trophies. Everything else isn't as important. Everyone has to act in the best interests of Bayern Munich."
…potentially ending his career at Bayern:
“If it was offered, I'd take it at once (laughs). I have a four-year contract, and I'm delighted to be here. I'm not thinking about any other clubs. I'll give everything I have in these four years and attempt to repay the faith shown in me."
